Wax moth larvae Top insect frozen 1ltr approx 450g
Top insect wax moth larvae are extremely nutritious due to their high dry matter and fat content (see table). Because they are very soft, they are very easily absorbed and digested.
Wax moth larvae are grown in the nursery on a partly natural basis, including bee honey and a partly artificial nutrient medium without growth promoters or chemicals. Breeding is very labor intensive, which makes this an expensive feed insect.
Boiling and shock-freezing on our installation remove the wax moth larvae from all bacteria and make them almost sterile. The residual fraction of bacteria and fungi is well below the standards that apply to human and animal food. This is followed by frequent monitoring through analysis. The double process also makes the larvae more digestible.
